Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026

This website presents the game Ageborne. It is an interactive information website: it sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising scripts and has no user accounts. Its purchase flow includes order consents and an email-based purchase recovery form. Below we explain which data is nevertheless processed when you visit it, and why, and what happens to feedback you send us from inside the game. Game purchases are not available yet; the purchase section below describes the prepared checkout and activation-key flow for when sales open.

1. Controller

Responsible for the processing of personal data in connection with this website:
WAIO Frei Applications
Hüttisbühl 2771, 9642 Ebnat-Kappel, Switzerland
info@ageborne.com

2. Hosting and server logs

This website is delivered through Firebase Hosting, a service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). When you open a page, the data that is technically necessary to deliver it is processed automatically: your IP address, the time of the request, the requested file, the referring page and information about your browser and operating system. These server logs are used to run the site securely and to detect faults; we do not use them to identify visitors. Data may be stored on servers in the European Union or the United States. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and processes the data on our instructions within the applicable data protection laws.

3. Cookies and tracking

We set no cookies and use no analytics, tracking or advertising services on this website. Fonts, images and the Three.js graphics library are served from our own hosting; no third-party content is loaded when you visit. Pointer movement only changes the local decorative scene and is not recorded or transmitted.

4. Contact by e-mail

If you write to us, we process the data you send (your e-mail address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message) in order to answer you. We keep the correspondence as long as that is necessary to handle your request or as required by law, and we do not pass it on to third parties unless a legal obligation requires it.

5. Feedback from inside the game

The game has a feedback page in its menu. A report sent from it goes to a small service of ours that runs on Google Cloud (Cloud Run functions, a service of Google Ireland Limited) in the Zurich region. The report contains what you enter (whether it is a bug, a request or something else, a subject and a description), the game version and the interface language. If you tick Attach system details and game log, it also contains your operating system, processor, memory, graphics card and screen settings and the last part of the game’s log file; before sending, the game removes the name of your home folder and any network and e-mail addresses from that log. As with the website, the service’s server logs record your IP address and the time of the request; the service itself keeps your IP address in memory for at most a day, to limit how many reports one address can send.

The service files each report as an issue in the game’s private source code repository on GitHub (GitHub, Inc., San Francisco, United States), which only our team can read; the report is therefore stored in the United States. We use the reports to find faults and to plan the game, keep them as long as they serve that purpose, and delete a report when you ask us to. Please do not put personal information into a report that you would not want us to keep.

6. Game purchases and activation keys

When direct sales open, the Buy Ageborne button will take you to a payment page hosted by Stripe. Stripe processes your payment details and the contact and billing information you provide there. Card details are entered on Stripe’s page and are not stored by this website. Stripe’s own page may use cookies and other technologies; see Stripe’s privacy policy.

Our purchase service runs on Google Cloud in the Zurich region. It records an order reference, Stripe checkout reference, price reference, chosen game store, assigned activation key, payment status, paid total and currency, checkout email and timestamps in Firestore so that it can verify payment, deliver the purchased key and send your confirmation. It records the accepted version and content of the terms and your explicit immediate-delivery consent and acknowledgement. It keeps hashes of random receipt tokens. Private links appear in your receipt page’s address and confirmation emails. Treat those links as private: anyone who has one can view your activation key. Keys are stored in private server-side records and are never included in the public website files. Server logs also process the technical request data described above. To protect checkout, the service uses shared hourly request counters under hashed identifiers, without storing raw addresses in those counters. They expire after the end of the following hour and are scheduled for deletion.

Your confirmation email contains your order details, activation key, the accepted terms and a private purchase link. Direct-sale confirmations use our existing easyname email service, which receives the recipient address, message contents and attached confirmation PDF for that purpose. Messages use our Ageborne sender address; replies go to our contact address. Recovery uses the order reference and checkout email; it never reveals to a requester whether an order or address exists. Matching paid orders receive a fresh private link at the checkout email address. Emailed links expire after seven days; a new link can be requested. We do not use checkout email addresses for marketing. Local development tests save dummy confirmations on the developer’s computer. Separately authorized delivery tests send clearly marked sample messages to our own contact address.

If Managed Payments is enabled for a purchase, Stripe acts as the merchant of record through Link and handles the payment-related services described at checkout. Activating a key uses your Steam or Epic Games account under that store’s own terms and privacy policy; this website does not receive your store password or account credentials.

Purchase records are used to deliver and support your order and handle refunds or payment disputes. They are kept for those purposes and any applicable record-keeping obligations. Contact us at info@ageborne.com about a purchase or a request concerning its data.

7. Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to obtain information about the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its processing and, where applicable, to receive it in a portable format. To exercise these rights, write to info@ageborne.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with your local supervisory authority.

8. Data security

We take technical and organisational measures to protect the data we process against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. The site is served over HTTPS only. Please note that e-mail is not a fully secure channel; for sensitive matters, use the postal address above.

9. Changes

We may update this policy when the website or the legal requirements change. The current version is always the one published on this page.
